South Bay Transit Summit 2025

South Bay Forward hosts the 2nd Annual South Bay Transit Summit, in partnership with Torrance Transit and MoveLA for SoCal Transit Month. Join us on Sat, Oct 4, 2025 from 10 am - 1 pm at the Torrance Transit Center.

Join transit advocates and local leaders to engage on opportunities for region-wide transit across the South Bay Los Angeles region. Keynote speakers from LA Metro and Torrance Transit will discuss how data informs transit planning. In breakout sessions, we'll work on key regional projects, including the C (K) Line Extension to Torrance and the Redondo Beach Blvd Bicycle Corridor Project.

Smarter Transit: Increasing Ridership Through Technology and Data

Nina Kin | Tech Lead, Digital Experience, LA Metro

Nina serves as the Tech Lead for Metro's Digital Experience Team and works on improving the rider experience by creating digital products and advancing the data powering them. She has spent the past 5 years at LA Metro, and before that, 13 years in LA County.

She is passionate about using technology to make government work better for the public and she frequently takes on roles at the intersection of government, technology, and social justice. She currently serves on the board of MobilityData and Los Angeles Walks. As a perpetual seeker of new skills, Nina is also an avid fiber crafter, musician, bicyclist, and gamer.

Torrance Transit Overview and Service Recovery

Daniel Lim | Transit Planning Analyst

Daniel’s main tasks at Torrance Transit are scheduling the fixed-route bus service, analyzing ridership and on-time performance, and assisting customers in the Connect Torrance microtransit program.

Daniel obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Earth System Science from UC Irvine and earned a certificate in Geographic Information Science (GIS) at Cal State Long Beach. He has been working at Torrance Transit for over 5 years.

In his free time, Daniel enjoys travelling, going to baseball games, and trying new restaurants and cafes.

LA Metro South Bay Updates

Andy Sywak | South Bay Area Local Government Relations Manager

Andy Sywak has been with Metro since June of 2024 as the Local Government Relations Manager for the South Bay. Previously he worked in government relations and economic development for the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, the City of Manhattan Beach, Cedars-Sinai and a short-term rental startup, AvantStay. While in Beverly Hills, he worked alongside Metro’s Community Relations team in conducting outreach to the business community for the Purple Line, helping build support for the La Cienega Station.

Immediately after college, Andy was mainly interested in journalism and freelanced for a few papers before publishing a small neighborhood newspaper in San Francisco, the Castro Courier. Immediately before coming to Metro, he managed permits, govt. relations and incentives for an EV charging company in El Segundo. He began his career in government as a performance auditor for the California State Auditor in Sacramento.

He lives in Westchester with his family and is a board member of Westchester Little League. Andy raised $30k to have Open Magnet Charter School in Westchester open to the public on the weekends.
